Product Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pin-style sockets very tempermental If I knew years ago what I know now, I would never have bought a light fixture that uses pin-style halogen/xenon lights. I have 4 pendant lights in my kitchen with this socket set and have replaced each one at least once. I was told that the 50W bulbs burn too hot and relax the tension spring inside the socket that grips the pins on the light. There is no way to access the spring to fix it, so I have to go to expense of buying a complete new set. I began using 35W xenon bulbs which extended the life of the socket a bit, but I now find myself having to buy yet another replacement. I just bought some LED bulbs hoping that they will burn cool and finally solve the problem. Also, the way the glass shade mounts over the socket makes it very hard to clean well. I have a very narrow, clear, conical-shaped shade that is almost impossible to clean in place. There is no way to remove the shade for a good cleaning without completely disassembling the socket set. You have undo the wiring from the plug that connects into the transformer to remove the glass shade. In summary, love the look of my lights, but they're not worth the maintenance.
