Product Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful and well-made but very dim I ordered these lights for a few locations where ceilings were low, design was important, and fluorescents were unacceptable. On the design side, these fixtures delivered. They are heavy, well-made, and very attractive. Unfortunately, the light output is terrible. When I ordered, I paid close attention to the lumen output of the halogen bulbs in these fixtures to make sure I was getting adequate light for the space. I didn't make any mistakes there; however while the heavy frosted light diffusers on these fixtures do a nice job of eliminating hot spots, they really kill the light output. In practice, these smaller 40W fixtures might as well be 20W accent lights. You CANNOT fix the situation by putting a higher watt bulb in the fixture because the fixture is sealed and the bulb is right under the junction box. Also, changing the bulbs on these fixtures requires using a tiny allen wrench. It's a pain. Tech makes a very similar fixture called the Tiella, which has exposed screws you can use to change the bulbs by hand. I thought the Cirque was a cleaner look, and ended up ordering the Cirque for one room and the Tiella for another room. I wish I'd ordered the Tiella across-the-board, because I actually like its appearance -- the exposed screw is nicely designed -- and it's a lot easier to change the bulbs. Actually, scratch that. I wish I hadn't ordered these lights at all, because they don't deliver enough light. I was too obsessed with finding something low profile and close to the ceiling. Better to have something an inch thicker that delivers enough light. If you are just looking for accent lights -- not a primary light source, then I do recommend these fixtures.
