Can this be installed on a sloped ceiling?

I want to hang this as close to the ceiling as possible. What is the shortest distance this would hang down (including shade P8825)?

Is the stem attached to the part that is hardwired into the ceiling or is that a separate part?

I have 12 foot ceilings and plan on using this to illuminate a kitchen island. Will this hang at 48" below the ceiling or will I need an extra downrod?
