Careful This product looked to be a very nice fan unit. Before I attempted to actually install it I plugged it in and it was very quiet. It has an awesome size fan. However the unit only comes in a 4in. oval, not round, exhaust opening even though it shows a 3in. round exhaust opening I ordered 2 different models, an 08 in 3in. and an 05 in 3 in. they both came in the oval 4in. configuration. The pluses are the low profile and the quietness. It would work better in a sidewall setup than through the roof because of the size of the exhaust vent. August 20, 2010
Panasonic FV-05VS1 (Fans): Exhaust Fan Bathroom I purchased this vent fan to replace the builder's grade Broan fan because it was so loud (4 Sones.) This Panasonic is perfect because 1) it is much much quieter, 2) it also uses a 3" duct, 3) installation only required that the drywall opening be enlarged a small amount. I could not find a vent fan that met these requirements in one of the big box stores. Anyway, it works great and is much more quiet. Perfect for smaller bathrooms. August 14, 2010
Not as quiet as .8 sones We purchased 2 Broan .8 sones and absolutely loved them. They are so quiet. Because we needed a 3" duct fan, we purchased the Panasonic and it is no where near the quietness of the Broan. I hate it because it is in our guest bath, but are stuck because Broan doesn't make a 3" .8 sones, June 16, 2010
Installed in my under construction home so I don't know how well or how quiet the units I bought will be. But, I have used similar models from Panasonic in several other homes and they were excellent. I'll follow up and let you know. June 3, 2010
