3 Questions from the Community
I have a black 9(hot) wire, white, red(house was wired for a separate light switch) and ground. The fan only has a black, white and ground(green). What do I do with the red wire coming out of the electrical box? Also, is there a built in radio transmitter that doesn't have to be separately wired for the remote control?
A. In a 3-way switching system, the red and white wires are only supposed to run between the two switches. Why there would be one coming from the fan junction box is confusing, unless it was a multi-switched light, with two side-by-side switches controlling two different parts of the old light fixture. They could have used a 3-way wire to simplify the wiring. If you're wiring the fan to be controlled by a single switch, you can just cap off the red wire and use the rest (black/white/ground). Also, the remote transmitter for the Monte Carlo Arch RBD should install in place of the light switch on the wall that controls the fan junction box.
Are additional, longer, downrods available for this fan? Can it also be used with a 45 degree sloped ceiling?
Are the light bowls (uplight and downlight) closed (to keep out bugs) or open?
