Lots of light!
We put in a new fan that we had purchased elsewhere and were very unhappy with the amount of light it gave out. We took it down and returned it and purchased the MinkaAire. We've put this fan in our dining area in the kitchen where we like a lot of light. It really does the job. Looks great, too!

Completely satisfied
I just ordered my 4th Airus fan, 2 for my Brother in Law and now my second for my home. I assume like most buyers, we are replacing the builders model. This fan is extremely quiet and no vibration. We can lay in bed and adjust the speed, direction and dim both the down and up-lighting. It is also attractive without taking away from anything else in the room as it blends somewhat with the ceiling. My one recomendation for an improvement is that the wall switch should be illuminated dimly at all times like a dorr bell, not just when you are touching the buttons. Overall, outstanding.

great fan!!, looks awesome, the lighting is great it has a top light and a bottom light, (both dimm). A really good looking fan, and works very good at all speeds and very quiet

Great fan - does it all and does it well
It is generally hard to create a multifunctional device that does not compromise on any of the functions it provides and looks good at the same time, and MinkaAire has done just that with this unit. The motor is quiet and powerful, really moves the air in a room and the blades didn't require any balancing; the uplight casts a soft ambient light great for watching TV or working on a computer; and the downlight really lights up a room but without blinding you thanks to a stylish frosted glass diffusor. Unless installing on a very high ceiling, the box has everything you need to install, including lightbulbs for both lights and 2 sets of face and wall plates for the control unit (white and ivory).
A couple of installation tips for fellow DIYers:
- if your unit is satin nickel finished, keep the plastic bag on the motor housing until you actually hang the fan - helps keeping greasy fingerprints off the finish
- when assembling the fan, set the upper styrofoam on a flat surface at least 2 feet off the floor (I just put it on top of the box; the higher it is the easier it will be to lift the fan up after it is assembled); then set the motor down in the corner where the canopy cover was - it will sit nicely on its bottom reflector plate with enough room for the threaded diffusor mounting rod, allowing you to freely rotate the motor and making assembly and further installation a breeze

Great fan--glad we bought it
I am very pleased with this new fan. I got it in white for an office off the master bedroom. It almost looks like a UFO hovering up there--with the up light and the down light there are so many different looks that you can acheive. Now for functionality: the controls make it very easy to use. It is very powerful, yet silent. A lovely addition to our home.

Can't get enough of these fans
I put two of a different model in my condo and I LOVED the uplighting. Just perfect for ambient lighting when you watch TV or want soft lighting. I moved to a different home and bought this model (recommended by the same electrical store as the first fans) and I just had it installed about 2 months ago. I knew it dimmed but it took me a couple of days to figure out that the dimmers also click to turn the lights on and off from the remote. When it was installed by the electrician from Angies List, he put the fan up without putting the light diffuser on top. He said I don't need it lol. That was his last trip to my house. I had another electrician fix that and the diffuser really softens the light. The fan is beautiful and I am shopping for 4 more now. I will also put a Minka outdoor fan in my new screened in porch being built next month. These are BEAUTIFUL!!!

Nice looking fan but difficult installation
We picked this fan because it has both up-lighting and down-lighting and it has a decent blade pitch with a strong quiet motor. It looks great and it works great but installation is a bit more difficult than with some other fans. You have to attach the blades first, THEN hang the fan. If you have an 8-foot ceiling you need to use the very short downrod (included with the fan) and this makes attaching the wiring while standing inbetween the blades even more difficult. The remote control receiver has to fit inside the bell so you need to make certain all the wire nuts are up in the electrical box otherwise the remote receiver will not fit. Finally, if you ever need to change the light bulbs for the up-lights with an 8-foot ceiling, you'll probably have to un-install the fan to get the cover off the lights. But if you have a high ceiling and use a long downrod you may find that installation is somewhat easier. If you're willing to put up with the hassle of installation it's a nice looking fan and works quite well. An added plus--we bought two of these fans and neither one required any balancing weights to run smoothly.

Beautiful fan with surprises
A few weeks after we installed this fan in our new kitchen, we found that by holding the on/off buttons on the wall switch (which are a bit small) we were able to dim the lower and upper lights individually. This was an unexpected delight. It was not an advertised feature, so I hope it doesn't burn out the lights too soon. We bought the brushed nickel fan which looks elegant and combines with the stainless appliances beautifully. It is quiet and cools as expected.
I hope it lasts as long as our Casablanca (15+years & cooling elsewhere).
