A great purchase
We purchased this light to replace a set of tracked halogens that had a bad habit of blowing up. Switching from halogen to flourecent is tricky, becuase the former has a very pleaseant light, and flourecent can be less so. We liked the look and size of this model and gave it a try. Ordering and shipment was problem free and the unit arrived in a timely manner, well packed and undamaged. I was surprised how well built and solid the unit was, with plenty of knockouts to aid positioning options. Interestingly, there was no mounting hardware included, but I found this a plus as the hardware that comes with many light is garbage anyway. I think if you are going to put up something nice, you should use very good hardware for the best results, and this size unit in wallboard deserves decent sized steel anchors, not those silly plastic mollies one often sees. The wiring was straight forward and I appreciate the pre-wired ground with plenty of length. My one caution is this is a BIG unit and having two people as the instructions points out would have been a good idea. I wanted to surprise my wife and did it myself, but I would ask for help next time, although my wife thought the idea of me standing on both a chair, table and the washing machine while holding up the light and screwing it in at the same time was funny. Beyond this, it is beautiful! No flicker, turns on right away, no hum, and those nickel accents on the ends are eye catchers. I changed the bulbs to ones with more yellow and my whole kitchen has this mellow, warm feeling that makes us enjoy being in it at night. I am very pleased with this purchase and most importantly, so is my wife. And no more dirt catching, hard to clean exploding halogens sending flaming glass across my kitchen!
