  • CFL bulbs dont use a medium base like this light does, so they will not fit. From what I gather, this is meant for incandescent, and thus does not use an electronic ballast. Fluorescent requires an electronic ballast to function anyway.

It indicates below that fluorescent bulbs cannot be used. Does this also include CFL bulbs? If they can fit into the fixture, why can they not be used?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Headache to hang!! Although this fixture is modern and attractive, it was extremely difficult to install. It took 2 people on separate ladders and lots of sweat and stress to get the the cables that hold the glass dome properly attach. Manufacturer should have used a simple hook or clasp to make attaching them easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks nice. Works great. It could have been a little easier to install, but I did it alone. I use Cree LED bulbs, so 3 bulbs gives me 180 watts of light for 30 watts of power with nice color. Even if you use regular incandescent, it runs cooler than a flush mount because the warmth can spread out. Being semi-flush gives you more light, because light reflects off the ceiling (and getting light is the whole point). It's very easy to change bulbs by just swinging aside the bowl. With LED bulbs, you only need to do that every 22 years, so I will followup this review in 2036 and let you know how that went.
