Ceiling Fan / Light Dual Slide Preset Wall Control 2.6 5 5 5
very poor quality I'm surprised this control is still working after a week. It has the quality of those plastic gee-gaws you get from the 25 cent vending machines at the supermarket. I'm not sure how it could be made more flimsy. I'm shopping for a better wall control now (not from Hunter...). June 11, 2011
Poor Quality This is a sliding variable control switch, the fan side of the switch was stuck and the knob broke off when I was trying to unstick. I glued it back on and got it loose and it is working, but the switch IMO is very loose and it feels like you have to be very careful with it or it could break again. I do not recommend buying this switch and if I had to do again, knowing the quality, I wouldn't buy. April 23, 2011
OK Wall Controll It works OK. However, the dimmer and fan control buttons touch each other when moved. Also, we placed it next to Lutron Maestro switch, which operates spot lights in the same room, and you could clearly see and feel the difference in products' quality. If I could do it again, I would operate fan and light controls by two different switches. August 15, 2010
A little flimsy but also classy We stripped our house of polished brass, including hinges, faucets, lights, door handles. We are selling our house. We installed Hunter 46" bronze fans in what are likely the child bedrooms. Important points on the control switches: (1) some reviewers on other sites correctly say these controls are flimsy, (2) there are three buttons, one for on/off and two for lights and speed, (3) once you gently set the flimsy light/speed sliders like you want, you never have to touch them again, just hit the sturdy on/off button, (4) Hunter fans come with free CFLs, but we upgraded by buying the much more expensive dimmable CFLs (I never tested the included CFLs to see how they would work with this switch, but somehow that seems like a bad idea to dim a non-dimmable bulb). My installer had some problems with the Hunter wiring diagrams and got the setup wrong on the first try (his light switch controlled the speed), but the control worked perfectly with the hot wires switched. Since this control is the size of a soft-touch switch, we bought a new 2-hole cover plate plus a soft-touch switch. The wall plate looks fabulous with the joint Hunter control for the fan and a soft-touch for the other switch. My installer says this combination makes for a very crowded outlet box. In summary: this switch requires only the on/off button once you set the light/speed sliders as desired, and it looks fabulous when complemented with a soft-touch switch in the wall plate. Easy to install The switch was simple to install. However, the bottom button is not a button. It works more like a switch, which seems like it is loose or something. However, it is a nice feature to have on the switch. I really like how the switch is a dimmer and has 4 fan speed options. If the button was a button and not a switch, I would have rated this higher.
