  • Are these fans "gasketed" to protect from dust? Our application is inside a barn and the inspector is requiring that all fixtures be gasketed to prevent dust intrusion (and tested/labeled accordingly).

  • Is this fan allowed to be controlled by a variable switch, because thats what I want to put on it for my dad?

    A. The Emerson HF1160 can be controlled with either the Emerson SW81 or SW82 variable speed controllers, which are available when adding the HF1160 to your cart. It may be possible to use a different controller, however some controllers may cause excessive fan motor hum. We advise you use the manufacturer's recommended controllers.

    A. As far as I know, I don't think so. There is an installation manual on the product page to consult. You may want to consult an electrician on this.

    A. The Emerson HF1160 is very adequate for a 14ft ceiling as it's a 60" and longer downrods are available.

Emerson HF1160 Industrial Fan This fan looks like an airplane prop !! :-) When I first turned it on high, I thought the house was going to lift off, that's how much air this thing moves !! I'm using it in my home with ceilings that are just over 8 FT and it works fine. I have it in my central room where my wood stove is located. My other 4 rooms are located off this central room and rather than use the fan supplied with the stove, I thought this ceiling fan would be better at distributing the heat throughout the house. I installed it using the 6 inch down rod supplied and I have about 15 inchs of clearence above my head. No matter which doorway I stood in, the air came into each room very effectively, so I'm sure when the winter comes, I will have my idea of an effective central forced air heating system! Using it this summer helped keep the air moving throughout the house for a nice cooling effect! The house is small, about 760 sq ft, so this fan works great for my application. September 2, 2011

Emerson Fans Warranty

All products are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from date of sale, except for motors in selected ceiling fan models whish are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for extended periods of time. See the specific limited warranty included in the owner’s manual packed with each fan. These warranties do not apply to damage from accident, misuse, or alteration; nor where the connected voltage is more than 5% above the nameplate voltage; nor to equipment improperly installed or wired or maintained in violation of the Instruction Sheet. These warranties are valid only in the fifty states of the United States. No employee, agent, dealer or other person is authorized to give any warranties on behalf of Emerson Electric Co.

The customer shall be responsible for all costs incurred in the removal or reinstallation and shipping of the product for repairs. Within the limitations of these warranties the customer should contact Carrol Appliance, authorized Service Center, at 1-800-654-3545. We will replace parts, or the unit, at our option, at no charge to you with return freight paid by Emerson. It is agreed that such repair or replacement is the exclusive remedy available from Emerson Electric Co. and that EMERSON IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion or limitation may not apply to you.
