Why are none of the Besa fixtures Title 24-compliant? What does this imply in the way of energy-efficiency? I would think it's a UBC requirement for Title 24 compliance?
A. In order to be compliant with California Title 24, a light must meet stringent requirements for energy efficiency, which usually requires the use of a fluorescent bulb and an electronic ballast. Standard incandescent fixtures, such as the Besa Lighting 1BT-7572-SN do not meet these standards simply because they use incandescent bulbs. According to California Title 24, you only need 50% of your kitchen lighting to be Title 24 compliant in order to pass inspection. When it comes to other rooms in your house, non-high efficiency lighting can be controlled by a vacancy sensor (bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, utility rooms) or by a dimmer (any other household rooms) and still be considered 'in compliance'.
